Finish Trial of the Chicken to unlock your chicken-legged house and its building tutorial. In 1.0, use the newer snapping and roof tools rather than relying only on early-access building tricks.
Unlock and start building. The opening guides agree that construction starts after the hut rises. Bonus Action lists B as its build-mode shortcut; bindings may differ on a controller or remapped setup. Start with a floor and enclosed room, then furnish it. Keeping the stove and entry easy to reach is an editorial layout suggestion, not a game requirement.
Use the newer tools. The June 2026 official update separated house construction and decorating, added a free-floating camera and undo/redo, and allowed more furniture placement orientations. The launch announcement describes drag-building or deleting multiple pieces, a rotation compass, better snapping and improved roofing. These tool details are official single-source documentation, not independently reproduced tests.
Materials. The September beta notes name spruce, birch, beech, pine and clay, unlocked by finding the respective material in the world. The launch announcement confirms new wood types and clay. These notices come from the same development team and count as one source, not two independent confirmations. Exact piece costs are not documented here.
Roof cuts and awkward intersections. The October 8 patch added the Saw, also called Cut Manager. It controls how intersecting blocks are cut or snapped: for example, keeping a wall from being cut by a roof or preventing a bannister from snapping to a stair. If a triangular gap is caused by an intersection, inspect this tool before copying an old manual roof workaround. No specific roof layout is guaranteed.
Blueprints. Ashes & Ancestors says blueprints can be crafted at the Furniture Workbench. It does not establish that this is a full-house export/import system, so we do not promise downloadable house saves or a one-click copy of another player's build.
Layout ideas (editorial). Try a compact kitchen around the stove, a raised sleeping nook, and a separate garden area. Build the shell before cluttering it with decorations. These are suggestions, not official blueprints or required progression steps.
