Combat and co-op change the decision

REKA vs Mirthwood: which fits you?

Choose REKA for combat-free witchcraft and a customizable walking house. Choose Mirthwood for a medieval farm-and-RPG life with real-time combat and released local co-op.

Perspective and focus. REKA is a third-person witch adventure about Reka and Baba Jaga, with construction, gathering and folk rituals. It is not a first-person game. Mirthwood puts a new arrival into a medieval sandbox of homesteading, trade, relationships and adventuring. These are descriptions of their advertised systems, not claims of a shared developer or a sequel relationship.

Combat and pressure. REKA's official description and FAQ explicitly rule out combat. Mirthwood's developer describes sword and bow combat against enemies such as bandits and werewolves, alongside light survival elements. If "cozy" means no fighting to you, the safer thematic fit is REKA; the label alone does not make both games equally gentle.

Building. REKA focuses on constructing and decorating a chicken-legged cottage that moves with you. Mirthwood advertises a homestead, crops, livestock, facilities and gear. Choose the walking hut for architectural play, or the farm/RPG loop if producing goods and adventuring matter more. This is an editorial comparison of official features, not a measured building-depth score.

Co-op: not both single-player only. REKA's publisher explicitly says it will not be multiplayer. Mirthwood's July 10, 2025 release added local co-op and Steam Remote Play. The later Seafarers notice announces native online multiplayer and an upcoming beta, so that notice is not proof the online mode has shipped. Local co-op is a concrete announced release, not a guess based only on Remote Play Together.

PC price snapshot, 2026-10-27. The REKA US Steam metadata lists $19.99 regular price and $12.99 during the 35% promotion; the launch notice says the promotion ends November 7. Mirthwood's Steam page lists $24.99. These are single-platform US-dollar snapshots, not globally applicable prices, historical lows or an ongoing price guarantee. Both linked PC releases target Windows; check the individual store requirements before buying.

Bottom line and evidence. REKA suits solitary, combat-free building and folklore; Mirthwood suits farming, social simulation, fighting and local shared play. No reliable like-for-like completion-time comparison or performance test was found. Official feature statements are attributed to each developer; their store copy and press release are not counted as independent reviews.
